In 2006, whilst in remission from an illness, Gill Bruton came to France fueled with a passion to create a holistic yoga retreat. Accompanied by her husband, Roger, her daughter, Mel, and son-in-law, Andy, the two families stumbled upon this old farm quite by accident, but knew immediately they had found the perfect location to realise Gill's dream. A joiner by trade, Andy became the driving force behind the renovations, and with the rest of the family spent the next eighteen months carefully restoring and renovating the buildings into the unique, hand-crafted setting it is today.

Unfortunately, in 2011, Gill suffered a relapse and passed away. But inspired by her mum’s motivation, and with her own creative flair, Mel continued with the project, and has today created a hotel offering a truly bespoke experience, where people from all walks of life can come together for a time of mindfulness and well-being. Surrounded by the breathtaking natural backdrop of the Pyrenees, the tranquil setting creates an inspiring energy for teaching and healing.

At Ferme de Candeloup, our desire is to offer a luxurious, tailor made experience, connecting like-minded people through wellness and relaxation. We look forward to welcoming you sharing these passions with you.

What our customers say

  • I stayed here July 2014 for a yoga/pilates retreat. The hotel is set in gorgeous surroundings looking out to the Pyrenees in the distance with rolling countryside and vineyards in the foreground – to look out and see this every morning was bliss! Rooms are beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The yoga studio, guests areas, gardens and pool are all immaculate and prove to be the perfect back drop for a relaxing day and evening. Mel’s cooking was fantastic, giving us freshly cooked, nutritious meals every day (even catering for my very specific dietary requirements). I would come back to here in a heartbeat for either another retreat or as a perfect “get away from it all” holiday.
  • If you want to spend a relaxing weekend in beautiful countryside, with amazing home cooked food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, look no further I have just spent two days on a yoga retreat weekend, a first for me which I throughly enjoyed. The setting for this weekend is idyllic, a beautifully renovated farmhouse, which has been tastefully restored throughout. The outside eating area is delightful and the bedrooms are decorated for comfort and relaxation with beautiful bedding and curtains. The bathroom was also of a very high standard. There is a super swimming pool with sun chairs to relax on around the pool overlooking the stunning countryside To top this amazing place I can't speak highly enough of Mel and her family who make you feel like you are at home. They are so welcoming and the icing on the cake is the home cooking. Delicious and tasty, so tasty I had to have the recipes! Enjoy your stay
  • An idyllic situation for a yoga retreat or just for getting out and exploring this beautiful part of France. I have just returned from the most memorable Yoga weekend and cannot praise this place and its hosts enough. The yoga studio, looking out to the pool and stunning Pyrenees mountains, the surrounding vineyards, the welcoming host, Melanie and her lovely family...... Beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable rooms..... And delicious food too! I can't wait to go back for another weekend escape. Thank you Mel!

  • I have just returned from a week long Pilates and yoga retreat at this beautiful, clean, friendly and tranquil place. The surroundings are spectacularly beautiful, the rooms are decorated to a high standard and are comfortable, ours, room 1 had a nice modern bathroom with a bath and shower and air conditioning. It is worth coming here just for Mel's excellent and nutritious food and the whole family's welcoming attitude, I really felt like I was staying with friends! This is a fantastic place to hold a retreat but would also be lovely for a family or couple to holiday. I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to visit this beautiful region and can't wait to go back again next year!
  • My friends and I just spent the most perfect week here for a yoga and pilates retreat - www.suewoodd.com. The hotel is a beautifully converted barn. Our room was lovely, with gorgeous views from the balcony across the vineyards beyond. Our hosts Mel and Roger couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. Mel's culinary skills are amazing, each day we had mouth watering, home cooked meals that were absolutely delicious. None of us wanted to leave!
